Re: Best own goal you've ever seen?
Dowie's got a Masters in Engineering, and while working for British Aerospace, had an amateur football career. Luton Town tempted him into the professional game.

(Wiki - although I knew he had a degree, I didn't realise he had a Masters as well)

Bale got a good one when at Spurs, first time.
In a goalmouth scramble, Spurs players smashes clearance straight into his face and ball rebounds into net

Iain Dowie.. Maybe he was experimenting?

Watching it now its funny as fuck, and the many times I've rewinded, it's still a fucking mystery to me.

That particular game is seared in my memory, and I'm sure many other chaps.

Re: Best own goal you've ever seen?
Dowie’s by a distance, probably the best goal he ever scored, shame it’s was in he’s own net.

Jamie Vardy.

The bloke's ruthless in his pursuit of the Golden Boot.

I hope no-one tells him own goals don't count...

Messi v Malaga, one on one with the keeper, drew him, chipped it over him, hurdled him, walked it in.

Bob Hazel scored a cracking header for us early 80's.....equally as good as the Bart mans effort

Re: Best own goal you've ever seen?
Peter Rodrigues sent a 30 yard diving header past his own goalkeeper. I think he was playing for Leicester

Yeah that Pollock one was amazing - nice bit of skill and that result got them relegated on the final day

I was just about to post the same thing. It might not have been the most spectacular own goal but it was the most satisfying, especially since a Doyle tackle had earlier put Trevor Brooking out of the game.

Re: Best own goal you've ever seen?
One of my all time favourites was Mike Doyle’s of Manchester City for us at home in 1973-74.

Graham Paddon, on his debut, crossed it into the box and Doyle dive headed it past his own keeper. We went on to win 2-1 after being one nil down.

We had struggled in the league up until that point but this result had given us momentum. We went on to escape relegation after some notable wins.
